Subject: Mandatory Training – Information

Hello all;

We would like to provide clarification for teaching assistant and sessional instructor training provided by the TLC.

Accessing Training Sessions

All teaching assistants and sessional instructors at Ontario Tech are pre-registered for training and have been added to a Canvas course for training (https://learn.ontariotechu.ca/), In that course, you are able to access the virtual classroom where the real-time training will take place, as well as access other resources to support your teaching practice. Simply visit the course during your desired training time.

*For those who have used an older registration form, please visit https://learn.ontariotechu.ca/ at your designated training time – no registration is necessary at this time. If you need to change your pre-registered time, please simply join the session at your chosen time.

Training Requirements

Canvas Part 1 and Canvas Part 2 are mandatory sessions for all TAs and sessional instructors. (3 hours of training)

Sessional instructors are also required to attend Kaltura Virtual Classroom and Google Meet, and Netiquette, Cultural Competency, and Professional Communication. (5 hours of training)

For additional questions, please contact your department or union representatives.

Thank you,

The Teaching and Learning Centre Team
