Vote Process:
PSAC555 is a membership driven local- which means your committees can make recommendations but you as the membership have to vote them in (Concurrence (agree with) or non-concurrence (not in agreement) with the committee’s recommendations.
In April 2020, the Finance Committees met and created a resolution to create a $10,000.00 Covid19 Emergency fund and the May 2020-April 2021 Academic Year budget

DEBATE:
Before you vote the membership is allowed to have the floor and talk about the resolution.
But, you can only talk once during the debate and for a 2-minute time limit.
The chair will recognize the speakers and close debate once they are sure that everyone has had a chance to speak. And/or if the membership agrees to call for a vote.
This is the first time we will be attempting to do this vote in an online setting.
If you are attending the Google video call online we ask that you utilize the chat box to ask to speak on a recommendation or to vote on a recommendation.
If you are on the phone: During the debate time, you will be asked if you want to speak on a recommendation and when it is time to vote you will be asked if you are in concurrence with the committee’s recommendation or in non-concurrence or if you wish to abstain.

Resolution:
PSAC555
Creation of an COVID19 Emergency Fund of $10000.00
Whereas: Any surpluses in the academic year budget have historically have gone to the Community Funds Budget line items.
Whereas: During this COVID 19 Pandemic our membership is having to deal with contract shortfalls and not having enough work/ income to purchase groceries, cover their bills, and other academic expenses
Whereas: The COVID19 hardships affect our membership’s ability to work.
Be it resolved: That a COVID 19 emergency fund be established for all of the PSAC 555 membership to access.
Be it further resolved:
That this fund covers the time period of March 13th, 2020 to May 1st, 2021 or until the $10,000.00 amount is exhausted.
That the fund award is a maximum of $200 per member.
That this fund will be used to help support approximately 50 of our members in need.
The applications for the $200 are adjudicated and the fund will be awarded based on a needs assessment.
