Dear PSAC Sessional Lecturers and Clinical Instructors:

As you know we are in bargaining for your new employment contract.

In October 2021, we were negotiating Non-monetary proposals, all the bargaining proposals that don’t have a financial cost to the University. When the Employer applied for conciliation.

Conciliation, which brings in a third-party Conciliation Officer, is a step within the bargaining process when the parties have been unable to conclude a tentative agreement together.

After meeting with our Members in October and in November- we have heard from you that you support your bargaining team and you want them to continue to fight for job security and a fair workload, the Union’s non-monetary bargaining key priorities.

The bargaining team appreciates that they are going into conciliation in Dec/Jan with the support of their membership behind them.

Next steps:

Now we must provide the membership with strike training and educate our students and the University community on the issues Sessional Lecturers and Clinical Instructors are fighting for.

Strike information sessions will start on Dec 7th at 10 am or December 8th at 7:30 pm. And will continue in January 2022.

Educating our students and their parents on why Sessional Lecturers and Clinical Instructors are asking for job stability and a fair workload will also be starting right away.

And we need you to participate in one or all of the following 3 ways:

  1. You can record your story and be part of a short video of a day in the life of a Sessional Lecturer and/or a Clinical Instructor.
  2. Have your story posted anonymously on a poster, to be posted on the campus and on our social media sites.
  3. Using photovoice you can send our office a picture, poem or a brief statement of why Job security or a Fair workload is important to you: (example “ Sessional Instructors should be treated with dignity – we are not disposable” ) We will be posting these anonymously on campus as well.

Please send all educational materials to Office@PSAC555.ca and if you would like to record your story let us know and our media person will help you with this process.

If you have any questions about supporting your bargaining team please reach out to your Mobilization Team at Office@PSAC555.ca.
