Hello PSAC Local 555 Family and Friends:
Professional Development Contest
The Professional Development Contest has been extended to March 19th, 2018.
Professional development funds are available to members who need financial support to advance their professional development.
In previous years, these funds have been granted to members for travel to and from academic conferences, research materials, and other academic advancements.
Please submit a maximum of two pages of why you need professional development funds. A panel of three adjudicators will evaluate all entries and announce the winner at the PSAC555 AGM in April 2018.
Submissions to be sent to Office@PSAC555.ca and will be accepted until March 19th, 2018.
Hardship Fund
The Hardship fund applications has been extended to March 19th, 2018.
Last year for our professional development contest, we had several submissions from members who were going through financial hardship and needed financial assistant. We want to recognize that the Professional Development Contest is not for Personal Financial Hardships. However, we also want to recognize that there is an issue and a need to help our members through personal hardships that are affecting their ability to come to work. Some of these issues are recent diagnosis of medical conditions, medical care that is not covered under the student plan or UHIP, and other unusual financial burdens that are affecting your ability to perform your employment duties. Please submit a maximum of two pages of why you need to access the PSAC555 Hardship Fund. A panel of three adjudicators will evaluate all requests. Submissions and recipients are kept confidential.
Submissions to be sent to Office@PSAC555.ca and will be accepted until March 19th, 2018.
TA/RA Graduate Student Scholarship
TA/RA Graduate Student Scholarship has been extended to March 19th, 2018
During our last round of TA/RA Collective Bargaining in 2017, it was determined that we have several Graduate Students who have gone beyond the length of their program without any source of funding.
To qualify for this scholarship:
You need to be a TA/RA in Pool C and we need to know why you have gone beyond the length of your program.
Please submit a maximum of two pages of why you qualify for this scholarship of $1000.00. A panel of three adjudicators will evaluate all requests and choose one. The panel will announce the winner at the PSAC555 AGM in April 2018.
