Dear PSAC555 Family:

Since May 2020, the local has been helping our members with the costs associated with the Covid 19 pandemic and transitioning to online learning.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to post some of the reasons our members are asking for financial help:

“During this pandemic, since I have to stay home from March, there has been more pressure on me financially. I was using the internet off-campus in normal conditions most of the time and I didn’t have home internet before (I was using my mobile internet data). Due to the pandemic, I had no choice but to purchase a home internet immediately to stay connected to my family back home and also attending necessary classes and giving tutorials online. I have attached the receipts for the purchase of Fido home internet and the payments for the first and second months. Moreover, there has been extra grocery shopping since we need to stay healthy and getting appropriate food during this time which is also presented for your consideration.”

We ask that if you have not signed the PSAC555 academic worker petition for Covid 19 transitional funding please sign it now

We are trying to access the 4.8 funding the Ont. Gov’t Covid 19 provided to Ontario Tech U, in Covid 19 transitional funds and the surplus income from the 2020-2021 Ontario Tech U budget.

Although we appreciate that the University has said that they appreciate all the work we have done to transition to online learning. We would like help with some of the costs.

Most of us are contractual employees with limited funds and limit access to other Covid 19 support funding.

Funding from the University for our part in the transition to online learning would go a long way.
